Colocynthis - there is so much
information, misinformation and one sided information about the
"bitter apple" online, that I add a link to a search page
results: general link
or with added word trigeminal link.
Certainly, when one reads that it is a deadly poison, he would be
scared away, BUT it is only deadly if he would eat the fresh peel
and other parts of the raw plants. The homeopathic potency used in
the remedy is NOT more poisonous as you can see in my lively horses,
which survived his pain attacks quite well and thanks to the great
effect of the remedy never had to be put on Carbamazepine or similar
hard core drugs. Comparing with such hard core drugs, Heel's
remedy worked even better! No side effects at all
A clinical study is here:
for now only in German, pages 32 to 36 - Colocynthis D6
Caro received the remedy as an aid against his
ischial pain in May 2004. By the 3rd vial (every 4 days 1) the HS
symptoms lessened. By the 4th they were gone. I quit a week, HS came
back. Restarted with every 3rd day one vial orally and kept it going
until the 26th of August 2004. I stretched the dosage from every 3rd
day one vial to every 10 days one vial, depending on his tension
levels. There was no weakening or rise in symptoms due to the
remedy, rise ONLY when something out of the extra ordinary happened
by us. All the stories about homeopathic remedies regarding
prolonged usage and such I had to listen to proved themselves wrong.
It was the first time I ever used any homeopathic remedy.
A lot of horse owners in Germany, UK, and
USA are using the remedy by now. Vet. med. Dr. Reinhard of the
company Heel was very surprised about the effects of this remedy in
our HS horses. 28-05-2005
My findings made within a year of HS horses care
I listed below:
| 1. |
Most horses react on it
positive. The pain is being suppressed after 3 to 5 dosages |
| 2. |
The amounts to give vary,
depending on:
- level of stress
- possible interaction with other drugs |
| 3. |
It is not a cure-all wonder
drug; it ONLY suppresses the pain if the horse is NOT under
a lot of 'extra' stress. I.e., if your horse is on HCH and
reacted well, suddenly gets injured or major exciting things
happen around the horse, the high stress can override the
remedy's effects. |
| 4. |
I have not used the HCH as
the ultimate remedy for HS, rather as an aid to the
adaptogen treatment; the goal is to relieve the pain for a
period of time until the adaptogens start working, with that
giving the body rest and freeing up some energies needed to
heal, which otherwise would be used to fight the pain. Less
pain, less cortisol production in the first stages of
stress. If your horse is already in level 3 of stress, the
remedy won't work, the stress is too high, limited
amounts of Cortisol are are being produced and the stress
has caused lots of problems and new diseases. |
| 5. |
HCH could be used as a
replacement for prescription pain relieving or sedating
drugs. |
| 6. |
If you have success with HCH
+/- other herbs/remedies, but you don't address the bodies
base problems, you won't heal the body, I'm convinced. The
HS Symptoms are being suppressed only and you might have to
give the HCH forever, if it keeps working. |
| 7. |
All horses I treated got
breaks from HCH, varying periods. I can't judge if it will
work forever or if the system gets used to it like to other
drugs. All horses under my supervision where kept by
Annabelle Knight’s suggested management plan for recovery. |
| 8. |
I know of 1 horse for
certain, which did not react on it at all. We tried for 27
days. It seemed to be in the 2nd stage of stress for years,
but had lots of other problems, too. Behavior issues
like cribbing, weaving and stall walking. It once was a
sport horse, which was allowed to have summer and winter
breaks, thus could recover somewhat. |
| 9. |
No horse under my care was
longer on it than 2 1/2 month w/o interruption. |
