Caro was purchased as stallion prospect in April 2002. 

During preparation for approvals he had an accident, hitting poll and lower jaw in a brick stall window. 

All clinics and vets told us, to put him down, his injuries were not to repair and he would be a Headshaker for life.

Needless to say I wasn't willing to give up and searched until I met one of my mentors in TCM. Never had to do with this alternative therapy before I gave it a try, we had nothing to loose. And it worked for Caro; already after a month into treatment he stopped the shaking.  We went through ups and downs for the coming two years, he suffered a coffin bone fracture class 3 and HS started again. 2 month later the hoof was pretty much healed, HS under control again. In the meantime he was castrated, HS started again - hormonal changes probably caused this set back. 

Update June 2006: Caro is now, after 3 years of TCM treatment, under saddle every day! No HS, no nothing!!! A normal horse again. He still gets some maintenance herbs, but not for HS rather to keep his complete system balanced. 

All together we changed his individual herbs 18 times, but it paid out.  It took a lot of engagement, time, fears and frustration, not every owner is able to handle that. We as HS horse owners, understand this fact very well, I wanted to give it up one time, too.  But when you hear and read about all the horses, we have treated with TCM in the last years, not only HS cases, add Cushing, Girth Syndrome, bone infections etc, I#m sure, you wouldn't give up your horse either!

Update Spring 2008: Caro is being trained by a German Grand Prix rider for 3rd level dressage!
